Greetings,
The red-winged blackbirds have returned to the marsh behind our
office, which means winter's grip (what there was of it this year) is
relenting here in New England and EcoPhotography is busily preparing
for another spring and summer of making images in some of the
Northeast's wildest, most beautiful places. Two big projects are
filling the docket but there's always room for more, so if you have
photo needs that require stock or assignment work, just let us know.

Wild Acadia |
 |
|
We are currently wrapping up the photography for "Wild Acadia,"
a coffee table book about Acadia National Park, due for release in
April 2007. This will be our second book on the park - a revised
version of our guidebook "Discover Acadia" was published last
year.
Like our book "White Mountain Wilderness," released last May,
Chapter One of "Wild Acadia" will feature a "then and now" look at
the park, utilizing historical photos from park archives coupled
with present day images (by us of course) shot from the same
location. The history chapter will be followed-up by three
chapters of photo essays titled "Shorelines," "Forests," and
"Granite Domes."
Our website now features new photos from this project,
including unique images of park icons like Sand Beach and Jordan
Pond, as well as details from less-visited parts of the park
including the off-shore island of Isle Au Haut.

iPod Winner Number 2 |
 |
|
Congratulations to Bob Sheppard, the winner of our second iPod
giveway, and one of our "coolest" clients. As Deputy Director and
Business Program Manager at Clean Air - Cool Planet, Bob has spent
that last five years helping businesses in the Northeast come up
with creative and profitable ways to reduce their greenhouse
emissions. Want to win your OWN iPod? It’s easy...just register on
our site.
Bob took his brand new Black 2GB Ipod Nano and handed it right
off to his daughter who just set a school record in the high jump,
earning her a trip to the New England regional track
championships. Great idea dad!

Custom Photo Research at EcoPhotography |
 |
|
On-line photo libraries offer nearly instantaneous access to
literally millions of images, but sometimes this is actually too
much of a good thing. You're busy right? We're proud to offer
keyword search capability at EcoPhotography.com, but if you're
pressed for time and want us to do the picture research for you,
no problem! We'll assemble a custom lightbox at no extra charge.
For example, say you search for "White Mountains" at
EcoPhotography.com. Right now, you'd come up with more than 800
images. If you're the type that wants to look through all 800
images, great. But if you'd rather have us make a more refined
selection based on a certain look, season, whatever, just let us
know.

We are happy to announce the kick-off of a new project that will
have us photographing the Connecticut River, New England's
longest, from source to sea. From New Hampshire's border with
Quebec to Long Island Sound, the Connecticut flows through every
type of New England landscape, including boggy boreal forests,
rugged mountains, hilly agricultural land with iconic New England
villages, and a broad tidal estuary that has been named a wetland
of international significance and one of the Nature Conservancy's
"Last Great Places."
We'll be photographing as much of the river as possible in 2006
as part of an effort to publicize the opportunities for
conservation in this surprisingly intact watershed. The list of
potential photo subjects for this project is huge. Some of the
highlights include endangered shorebirds nesting at the mouth of
the river, tidal marshes, urban riverscapes, rolling farmlands,
community gardens, tobacco barns, frothy whitewater, several major
forest habitats, moose, bears, eagles, kayaking, fly-fishing,
covered bridges...You get the idea.
We'll keep you up to date on this project through this
newsletter, but if you have potential photo needs that fit our
subject list or need to be shot in the vicinity of the Connecticut
River, let us know now - we're already up to 75 booked days (and
counting) on the river, and shooting begins next month!
Samples from our previous work in the watershed....
