May 2007 Out There
News From EcoPhotography.com

Greetings!

EcoPhotography is about making images of the outdoor world that matter, and our 2007 summer shooting docket is filling up with plenty of work that insures we'll be doing just that. Maybe some of this work fits with your current or future photo needs - give us a call and let's talk. In the meantime, we hope you get a chance to enjoy some early summer weather!

Cheers!
Jerry and Marcy Monkman

EcoPhotography goes Carbon Neutral.
    Tuckerman Ravine Snowboarder
In 2006, we drove approximately 18,000 miles while shooting primarily commissioned conservation photography. At 25mpg, that means we pumped around 7 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, which as I'm sure you know, contributes to Global Warming. Working to conserve the environment while polluting it at the same time seems a little morally challenged to us, so we have decided to offset our carbon emissions by supporting clean energy and buying carbon credits through cooldriver.org.

Buying carbon credits is relatively inexpensive - it cost us less than $100.00 to offset that 18,000 miles of driving. The credits we bought support the wind farms and dairy farm methane projects of Native Energy, a utility owned by Native Americans.     Wild Acadia Cover
Our new book Wild Acadia has just hit store shelves in New England bookstores as well as on-line at bn.com and amazon.com. We have lined up several book signings, including one at L.L. Bean's flagship Freeport, Maine store on June 16th. For a complete listing of book signings, visit our blog at: blog.jerryandmarcymonkman.com.

So far this year, we have completed commissioned photo projects for several clients including The Nature Conservancy, Clean Air - Cool Planet, The Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests, and the Trust for Public Land. This summer, we'll be continuing our work on our Connecticut River book project, as well as chasing down pictures on assignment for clients in places like the Maine Woods and Vermont's Green Mountains.
