Greetings,
Happy New Year!
We hope that your 2007 is off to a great start. As always, a New
Year means changes, especially in view of our never-ending quest
to help you do your job faster and easier (see the "Free Stuff"
article for the latest innovation at EcoPhotography.com!)
2006 was another year in which we were privileged to work on
intriguing projects that had a positive environmental impact, one
of which we've written about below. These opportunities were
extremely gratifying, and with your help, we look forward to
tackling similar challenges in 2007.
Cheers!

Success in Maine! |

EcoPhotography's images help protect Katahdin Lake.
On December 15th, the Trust for Public Land completed raising more
than $14 million dollars to complete the acquisition of 6000 acres
around Maine's Katahdin Lake. The lake and surrounding forest were
then given to the State of Maine and integrated into Baxter State
Park, one of the premier wilderness parks in the eastern United
States.
We had the good fortune to make two trips to Katahdin Lake on
behalf of the Trust for Public Land in July, 2005, and again last
October. Our photographs became the primary imagery used in the
publicity campaign that raised funds to protect Katahdin Lake. We are
very grateful that the project has been successfully completed and
that we could play a part in it, as this was perhaps the wildest and
most beautiful piece of unprotected wilderness we have ever visited in
New England.

Number Two Stamp in America. |

EcoPhotography's Mount Washington Image Proves Popular at the Post
Office.
Who's "The King"? Elvis, of course, whose image graced the
best-selling stamp in the United States last year. Right on his heels
in the #2 spot, however, was a sheet of 40 stamps called "Wonders of
America." We were thrilled to be part of this, having provided the
image of New Hampshire's Mount Washington that was used for the
"Windiest Place" stamp in that best-selling collection.
Mount Washington is infamous for being the windiest place in the
world: in 1938, instruments recorded a wind gust of 231 mph on the
summit! Every year, we field dozens of stock requests for images of
Mount Washington and the surrounding White Mountains, so we have put
together a lightbox featuring the best of our Mount Washington
collection. (sorry, no pictures of Elvis,though...we were only eleven
and nine years old when he died...)

Several hundred of you registered on our website during our 2006
"Register and win an iPod" promotion. The final winner was Karen
Taggart of Adams Hussey and Associates in DC. Congratulations Karen!
For 2007, we've decided to streamline our web registration process:
it will no longer be necessary for new visitors to register in order
to search for images on our site. However, registered users will still
have special privileges such as the ability to build lightboxes and
download comps. And, we'll still be giving away free stuff to new
registrants. (Hey, we'll even double your odds of winning... e-mail us
with a request for a custom-researched lightbox and we'll enter your
name TWICE into our new drawing for signed copies of our cofee table
book, "White Mountain Wilderness.")
